As Seen in Seventeen

Helen from Virginia

Helen is 18 years old, but she has already accomplished more than most people twice her age! For three summers, she was part of the Rockettes Summer Intensive, where she got to train at Radio City Music Hall and even danced on the stage once. The 2nd summer, she was living in an apartment on her own and earning part of the rent by working as a model and at the Hollister Co. flagship store in SoHo. She is a trained ballerina and has sung, acted, and danced in community theater. She wants to be conversational in as many languages as she can, dreams of living in one of the world’s fast paced cities (like Tokyo, Paris, and London) and has already traveled to France, Germany and Japan. She also hopes to do more volunteering, especially in the areas of education and environmental cleanup. Helen is a freshman in college, loves shopping at her local Rite Aid for snacks, Neutrogena face wash, Cover Girl mascara, and Burt's Bees lip balm, and uses her Wellness plus card to save money. This determined teen has a work ethic that sets her apart from other girls her age, but says she can also be goofy with her friends and family.

When Helen entered, she wrote…

After spending three years majoring in musical theatre at The Governor's School for the Arts, I went to live on my own in New York City and work as a model for APM Model Management. During my year in New York, I've had a great time learning all about the fashion industry--and I've continued my schoolwork (I finished high school with a 5 on the AP Government and Literature exams), kept taking ballet at the Joffrey Ballet School, explored all of the city's cultural offerings (I love museums, Broadway, and New York City Ballet), worked as an in-store model at Hollister Co., and made tons of great friends. This fall, I'm off to Connecticut College, where I plan to stay just as busy and keep pursuing my diverse interests in the visual/performing arts, writing and publishing, and foreign languages (I've studied Spanish, French, Japanese, and Mandarin Chinese). Whether I'm in New York or at home in Norfolk, Virginia, I know I can count on Rite Aid to have all my favorite beauty and health products in stock. I especially appreciate Rite Aid's wide selection of natural product lines, as I'm always interested in getting glam without all the gross chemicals. Rite Aid has always been my one-stop shop for cleaning products and most groceries, as well as a great place for treating myself to a fun new eyeshadow or lip gloss. I'm very grateful to Rite Aid for helping me make my busy, on-the-go lifestyle possible, and I would be thrilled to have an opportunity to represent the company as the face of Glam Camp 2013. Thank you so much for considering my entry.
